Telephone Giants, Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T) is the latest entity to lend support to eh upcoming memorial cycle race meet in memory of the late Troy Humphrey and Samuel Barker.
The event which is being jointly organised by the Roraima Bikers Club (RBC) in collaboration with the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation will take place on Sunday October 31st at the Amelia’s Ward Circuit, Amelia’s Ward Linden.
Yesterday at the GT&T’s Canteen, Hadfield Street, Marketing Officer Margaret Washington handed over their company’s contribution to President of the Roraima Bikers Club Brian Allen in the presence of fellow organizer Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major.
Ms. Washington declared that GT&T was willing and ready to partner with the organisers and the other sponsors in helping to make the event a success.
“We are quite happy that this event is being held in Linden and that it will attract the best riders in Guyana including many promising young riders including females.
We would like to encourage all and sundry to participate in this event which will recognise the efforts of the two individuals in whose honor it is being held.”
This will be the 13th year that the RBC in association with Humphrey’s Bakery & Farm Products are honoring the memory of former leading cyclist Troy Humphrey.
Club President Brian Alleyne thanked GT&T for their continued support of the development and sustenance of local sports.
He also disclosed that to date some 12 events are carded for the day and this number can increase; cash prizes will be at stake in all the races which caters for all category of riders including females.
Race time on October 31 is 10:00hrs with registration commencing at 9:30hrs.
