A 56-year-old security attached to the Red Dragon Night Club was yesterday placed on $75,000 bail after appearing before Magistrate Priya Beharry, at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It was alleged that on October 15, last, John Burnett unlawfully and maliciously wounded Lavena Dillon with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
To the charge Burnett pleaded not guilty. He was unrepresented by lawyer.
Police Prosecutor Lionel Harvey told the court that on the day in question; the defendant was working at the bar, when the woman and a group of other women entered.
The prosecutor further told the court that the woman and her friends began behaving vulgar and were cautioned by Burnett about her behaviour. Harvey said that an argument ensued between them and it was alleged that Burnett punched the woman to her face.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the defendant was arrested and charged with the present offence.
The magistrate placed him on $75,000 bail and he is requested to make his next court appearance on November 22.
