New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary, Tutorial Academy and Skeldon Line path Secondary scored contrasting victories when play in the Garret Cup Inter School Football competition continued with two matches Berbice.
In a game between New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary school and JC Chandisingh Secondary the Multilateral students inflicted a 5-2 whipping on their Chandisingh counterparts in the game which was played at the Esplanade Park in New Amsterdam.
Over at the Skeldon ground, Skeldon Line Path were awarded the game after their opponents Central Corentyne Secondary were disqualified for playing over aged players. The rules stipulated that players must be born after September 1, 1995. Central had earlier won the game 4-0.
The competition will continue on Monday at The All Saints Scot Church ground Princess Elizabeth Road New Amsterdam with two games in the New Amsterdam/Canje zone. Tutorial Academy Secondary will play Berbice Educational Institute in the first encounter which will be followed immediately by the game involving New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary and Vryman’s Erven Secondary.
16 schools are participating in the competition which will see the winner taking home the Garrett Cup and medals, while the runner up will be presented with a trophy. The outstanding players will be presented with trophies and medals.
The competition is being coordinated by Vibert Garrett.
