Up to press time last evening police were scouring the lower East Coast Demerara area for three gunmen who fled and left their get-away car after carrying out a daring robbery on a city businessman.
Reports are that some time around 19:15 hours, the businessman who has been identified as Parmeshwar Singh, had just finished off loading a container outside of his home at Atlantic Gardens when he was attacked by three gunmen.
According to reports the gunmen then relieved the businessman of a substantial amount of cash and made good their escape in a white AT 212 Carina PKK2056.
However the police were alerted and responded promptly. Police reportedly give chase to Crown Dam Industry where they cornered the gunmen.
Discretion is said to be the better part of valour. The gunmen decided to abandoned the car and make good their escape of foot.
When this newspaper arrived on the scene police were removing the car from the scene while other ranks were searching the area.
