Three Guyanese, including a boutique owner, are in US police custody following a sting drug operation.
According to sources the men have been identified as Ronel Hernandez, David Norton and Ulric Anderson.
Hernandez is said to be the owner of the Upper Level Barber shop and clothing store. Kaieteur News was told that the entire case was made after a close associate of the men was arrested by Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) ranks.
According to sources the associate started cooperating with the officers who began building their case against the three men.
Kaieteur News was told that the informant called Norton, who was also in the United States, as were the others, on several occasions asking about buying “drugs”.
Norton, according to sources, told the informant that he did not have what was requested but would try to acquire supplies.
It was reported that Norton and the informant were in constant contact, and the conversations were all recorded by officers from the DEA. Kaieteur News was further told that the informant called Norton some time last month and plans were made about the drop off.
The three men according sources went to the place and saw the informant when they attempted to hand over the drugs.
Minutes later agents from the DEA swooped down and arrested the three. They are expected to make their second court appearance on Friday.
