“You mek me go to jail for 22 days so I gun kill you,” were words of 47-year-old, Royston Darlington when he beat his reputed wife after serving prison time for domestic abuse.
Royston was found guilty of unlawfully and maliciously wounding his reputed wife, Cheryl Holder and was sentenced to six months in jail by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
The abuser who resides at lot 47 Levi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, in the Ancient County, is reportedly in the habit of beating Holder.
The court was told that on December 22, 2009, Royston approached the virtual compliant while she was in her yard tending to her poultry and dealt her several wood lashes about her body. As a result of the injuries she fell to the ground.
After Royston had finished committing the act, he hurriedly escaped. The severely injured woman eventually managed to visit the New Amsterdam Police Station where a report was made. She was later accompanied by a police rank to the hospital where she was medically examined.
The accused was subsequently arrested and charged. He is the father of two who are both minors. He was described by Police Prosecutor, Sherlock King, as a man who regularly abused his spouse.
