The second Day of Interaction 2010 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/ National Sports Commission and the Regional Administration, Region # 2 will be held at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground, Essequibo Coast today, October 10.
An anticipated five hundred athletes and officials from across the region will be involved in a number of sport disciplines including Softball Cricket, Domino, Volleyball, Football, Table Tennis, Circle Tennis, Chess , Draughts and Basketball.
The day’s activities will commence with a March Pass. Contingents are expected to display colourful banners and uniforms for which prizes will be awarded. The contingent with the largest turnout will also be given a special prize.
At the Opening Ceremony, remarks will be made by the Regional Chairman, Mr. Ally Baksh, Mr. Neil Kumar, Director of Sport and the Hon. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony who will also declare the Day of Interaction open.
Other Regional and political functionaries will be in attendance.There will be adequate police and medical presence throughout the day. The selling and or consumption of alcohol will not be allowed at the venue before or during the activities.
At the completion there will be presentation of trophies to the winning communities and individuals.
There will also be donations of Table Tennis Boards to schools and Circle Tennis Racquets to the finalists of the female teams.
