Wazim Bux, 30, of Kilcoy, Corentyne, who is on trial for murdering the husband of his ex-lover at Kilcoy, Corentyne on January 24, 2008, has been committed to stand trial in the next sitting of the High Court.
This was after a case had been made against him in a trial conducted at the Albion Magistrate’s Court by Magistrate Chandra Sohan and prosecuted by Inspector Satrohan Dayaram.
It is alleged that around 5:30 pm on January 24, Bux, who was a licenced firearm owner and a hunter, ambushed and shot dead, Ahmad Razack, 45, a cane cutter of ‘Kilcoy Front, Corentyne during a fit of envy.
Reports are that Bux, who was previously involved in a relationship with the wife of the deceased, shot him in his right ear at close range. This was after the woman had broken off the relationship and had gone back to her husband. It was alleged that his intended target was his former lover.
Razack and his wife had allegedly gone to his in-laws’ yard at ‘Kilcoy Back’ to pick up bricks when he was shot.
Razack’s wife, Zulikha, 43, had stated that she and her husband had left home on a bicycle around 4:45 pm to pick up bricks from her mother’s yard at ‘Kilcoy Back’ when the suspect pounced on them.
She had stated that before she could do anything, the suspect had snatched her from behind and told her that he wanted the two of them “to go away far.” He had attempted to flee with her through an abandoned rice field and had threatened to kill her and had held on to her hand and dragged her before threatening to kill her and himself.
She had stated how she had put up a fight before managing to escape from her attacker.
A post-mortem report proved that Razack died from shock and haemorrhage due to gunshot wounds.
Police have recovered his licensed shotgun that was used in the killing.
