One day after an armed robbery at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, for which two men and a teenaged woman were arrested, the police announced that they recovered two revolvers and matching ammunition during the search of the house in which they found the perpetrators.
They said that they found a .32 magnum and a.38 revolver with matching ammunition and two spent shells
According to the police, in addition to the arrests and the weapons find, they also detained a motor car said to be a Toyota AT192 and recovered two firearms.
Two armed men robbed the Bhagwandai and Raheim Hussein supermarket at Agriculture Road, Triumph, about 15:30hrs on Tuesday.
Information received then, led to the arrest of another male suspect and a woman at a Crown Dam address and the recovery of the firearm.
Two male suspects had entered the business place located on the ground floor of the two-flat buildings, held up cashier Bhagwandai Hussein and ordered her to hand over the money which she did while the other went to another station and stole the money found there.
The suspects discharged rounds in and out of the building after the woman ran out and raised an alarm. They escaped in the waiting car that seemed to be attached to Gem’s Taxi Service.
The owner of the car was identified as Samantha Sue-Poi who admitted that she owned the car that was used in the robbery but that she rented it to one, Lewis Hopkins who gave his address as North East La Penitence.
The woman said she only learnt about the robbery after reading Kaieteur News. She said she would be more than willing to visit the police to provide any necessary information.
