A 40-year-old vagrant is a victim of a hit and run. He was struck while he was attempting to collect monetary help from members of the public on Sunday.
Pooran Lall, who hails from Wales, West Bank Demerara had set up residence near the junction of Camp and Lamaha Streets.
He said that on the day of the incident, he was seeking help from passengers, when a minibus came up.
Lall said that he asked for some money and he was told to go around to the driver’s end to collect it. He said that while he was around the bus the driver drove over his foot, causing him to fall to the ground.
He sustained injuries to his head and face.
The man said that he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by members of the public, and treated and sent away.
Lall indicated that he has been on the streets and in and out of shelters for seven years.
He added that he has no family to facilitate him and would seek assistance from the public as a means to provide his daily meals.
