Residents of New Amsterdam want the relevant authorities to investigate the construction of a three-storey building located at 11 Strand, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Residents are concerned that the “Danzees” building is poorly constructed and they are afraid that the building can endanger their lives. They fear that it could come crashing down.
A concerned resident told this publication that the unfinished building is inclining near an electrical pole and the owner of the premises is planning to add vertical extensions to the same building.
But New Amsterdam’s Public Health Inspector, Ackloo Ramsudh, told Kaieteur News that he is unaware of any complaints by members of the community and in his opinion the building has no faults.
Inspector Ramsudh indicated that the owner of the facility has employed a legitimate construction company.
Ramsudh further noted that because of the proprietor’s personal reasons, construction on the said building has been aborted.
