Robbers escaped with hundreds of thousands of dollars from a 656 Section B Block x Diamond, East Bank Demerara residence, yesterday.
According to an overseas-based Guyanese, Dr. Rudy Jadoopot, he came into the country Monday morning to celebrate his birthday and to attend a wedding. However, yesterday the house that he was occupying was attacked by bandits who gained entrance from the rear of the building.
Dr. Jadoopot explained that it appears as if persons were stalking the house, since after they left the bandit struck. Because a short while after returning with a relative it was discovered that two boards were missing from the back of the house.
The bewildered Dr Jadoopot disclosed after checking inside the house he discovered that a variety of jewelry were missing, along with a laptop, and other electronic items.
The overseas based Guyanese added that at the airport he also had a negative experience which frustrated him. “My luggage on the bag bay was opened, and a cologne set and deodorant were found outside of my bag that I found opened.”
Dr Jadoopot added that the experience that foreigners are greeted with in the country sends a very negative impact on the country as a whole, and it also appears that person are being trace from the airport to where they reside to be eventually robbed.
The owner of the house, Taramattee Lall, said that there were footprints beside the fence which indicated where the bandits had escaped. She disclosed that in the neighbourhood there has been an upsurge in criminal activities in the area and police should take note to handle the matters properly.
The police visited the house and promised to carry out an investigation.
