Annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial KO football
Monedderlust take 3rd semifinal slot; Rosignol & Ann’s Grove to meet for 4th
Former Berbice division-one football champions, West Coast based Monedderlust are through to the semifinals of the 3rd annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial knockout football competition being played in the Ancient County.
Playing at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground last Sunday, Monedderlust needled Cougars to advance to the final four. Their winning goal came via the penalty spot and was converted by Alwin Mc Donald in the 28th minute. Following the goal, Cougars threw everything into their attack but the strong Monedderlust unit were resolute in defence as they denied the goal hungry Winston Benjamin and Horace Roache from getting on the score sheets for Cougars, nullifying a number of attacks on goal.
Competition will continue with East Demerara’s Ann’s Grove come up against Rosignol United for the 4th semifinal spot.
