As police in the West Demerara district continue their investigation into the fire at Canal Number Two, which left a 62-year-old woman dead, there is no suspicion of foul play.
Commander of the Division Balram Persaud told this newspaper that they are still waiting on a post mortem examination results but so far, based on the evidence gathered there is nothing to suggest foul play.
However the Commander noted that no stone would be left unturned as the police continue their investigation.
In the meantime some residents of the community as well as some family members are holding to the view that the woman was murdered.
On Tuesday, a two-storied house at De Buff Canal Number Two, went up in flames just after 01:30 hours. When the blaze was quelled the charred remains of 62-year-old, Bibi Saqkhena Latif was pulled from the rubble.
Neighbours say that after smoke was seen coming from the two storied building which also houses a mini bar persons tried calling the woman but got no response.
