The woman linked to the immoral sex act at the East La Penitence Police Station has been released on $30,000 bail, while the Rural Constable has been dismissed by the Guyana Police Force.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman who has been in custody since January had bail posted by the Rural Constable’s relatives in a move to induce her against testifying against the man.
However, this newspaper learnt that the woman had already given a statement detailing what transpired earlier in the week.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the Rural Constable entering the restricted area where female remand prisoners are held. It did not capture the actual act but it did capture the woman changing from the clothes she was wearing and covered herself with a bath towel shortly before engaging the Rural Constable.
Statements from other inmates corroborated the story.
Sources at the East La Penitence Police Station confirmed that the act was witnessed by a juvenile prisoner.
The woman had reportedly agreed to commit the act on the promise by the rural constable to post her bail.
This newspaper also understands that the Rural Constable is still being held at police headquarters Eve Leary.
Meanwhile, a constable who was attached to the Prashad Nagar Outpost has been transferred to the interior with immediate effect after he was caught having sex with a female in the facility by an officer.
