A 16-year-old racing cyclist has been granted bail after being charged with carnal knowledge.
The accused made an appearance yesterday at the Wales Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.
It is alleged that on Sunday June 27, last, the teen had carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl. The charge was indictable and the accused was not required to plea.
He was represented by defence counsel Troy Deygoo.
In applying for bail, Deygoo told the court that his client has never had any antecedents, has a fixed place of abode and is a recognised national sportsman.
He further told the court that his client has been cooperating fully with the police ever since the investigation as it was his mother who took him into them to assist with investigations. After listening to the lawyer’s argument, the magistrate granted bail to the tune of $100,000.
