Dear Editor,
I have just read your piece in the Kaieteur News of 28th June, 2010, on page 9, re- the United States TIP 2010 report. It seems that Peeping Tom is begging Uncle Tom for something.
What this piece indicates, is that Guyana’s principled and factual criticisms of the U.S. TIP report, are being used by Peeping Tom to get into the good books of Uncle Tom (Uncle Sam). Perhaps Peeping Tom’s visa was revoked and he is now looking for another visa to the U.S.A.
Peeping Tom needs to be reminded that our recently assented to Sexual Offences Act is quite comprehensive and with the TIP and Labour legislations will address all these cases.
Peeping Tom did acknowledged that the U.S. ‘in typical fashion may be overstating the problem’. What he should have been doing was joining the call for the United States to provide the information that they have so that we could investigate and take decisive action.
