Dear Editor,
I like metem and often buy the fish and provision at the Mon Repos market.
More often than not I buy my root vegetables from a stall managed by a lad who can’t be more than 10 years old. Once when he was struggling to calculate my change I asked him why he was not at school where he could at least learn to add and subtract (hopefully). He said that he had to work.
Usually I go to the market between 10 and 11 am on weekdays except Fridays and my ground provision boy is almost always there. Can this be the tip of the iceberg?
