Funded by New York based villagers
With a mandate to promote the social, cultural, economic and educational development of young people in Melanie Damishana and its environs, the Mark Sutton Foundation will host a grand 7 a-side football tournament on Sunday June 27 at the Melanie Damishana Football Ground.
The Mark Sutton Foundation was formed following the sudden passing of Mark who collapsed and died one year ago whilst playing football at the Melanie Damishana Ground.
According to organisers Frankie Sutton and Aaron Blackman, teams from the East Coast will headline the competition which will also see participating sides from the City, East Bank and West Coast Demerara, respectively.
Prizes sponsored by villagers residing in New York will add more rivalry to the anticipated excitement on the day with the top team set to receive a beautiful trophy, $40,000 cash along with gold medals.
Silver and bronze medals are also at stake for the losing finalist and winner of the third place encounter.
