To debut at IFPA Pro Figure Show in Cayman Islands June 26
Guyana’s second Professional Bodybuilder Sylvan Gardner left these shores yesterday for his second appearance at the Musclemania Universe Show to be held in Miami Florida, today and tomorrow, June 18-19.
Gardner will also be making his debut at International Fitness & Physique Association (IFPA) Pro Figure Show set for Grand Cayman Islands on June 26.
He won his Pro Card at the Musclemania Super Body Show held in New York in 2008 where he won his category and the overall competition. The Buddies Gym Fitness Instructor acknowledges the role Guyana’s first professional Bodybuilder Hugh Ross played in his thrust to become a Pro.
Last year, Gardner placed 6th at Musclemania Universe which also took place in Miami but was later upgraded to 5th after one of the competitors tested positive for a banned substance.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport on the eve of his departure, Gardner said he was about 95% prepared then and by competition time he would be fully prepared and in very good condition.
His preparations began in January of this year, upping the tempo around March. Gardner made a guest appearance at the Hugh Ross Classic which was held on May 3, 2010 at the National Cultural Center and had the crowd going when he posed to a mixture of Chutney Music.
Gardner disclosed that he is grateful to a very good friend of his, Wayne Gudro (a professional judge) who was responsible for organizing his attendance at the IFPA Show in Grand Cayman.
A number of corporate entities and individuals have combined to ensure Gardner’s participation at both events.
