The person who rode the escape motorcyclist the morning when businessman Oudit Seenarain thwarted the attack by a gunman, Enrico Inniss, has been arrested.
The police picked him up on Friday while he was riding the same blue motorcycle he used during the attack.
He has since been positively identified. The police placed him on an identification parade and Seenarain picked him out from among the others in the line up.
Nearly two weeks ago, Inniss attacked Seenarain as he was dropping off his children at the Little Blessings Day Care, Lamaha Gardens. The object of Inniss’s attraction was a gold chain and pendant around Seenarain’s neck.
However, Inniss miscalculated because his target was not only a licenced firearm holder but also a member of the Guyana National Rifle Association. After a shootout outside the day care centre, Inniss managed to hop his way to the getaway motorcycle. He fell off the bicycle a few meters later and the police found him with the gun lying on the roadway. He had been shot and necessitated emergency surgery in the Georgetown Public Hospital. He remains a patient at the hospital.
His accomplice is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow to answer a charge of armed robbery.
