Director of Public Prosecutions, Shalimar Ali-Hack, has reinstituted new murder charges against two persons accused of killing Wendell Tappin.
Initially charged with the murder were Leonard Allicock, his son Steve Allicock, and his brother Randolph Allicock.
Randolph Allicock, 35, of James Street, Albouystown, and Leonard Allicock, 48, also of James Street, were not required to plead to the indictable offence of murder, when the charge was read by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday. It was alleged that on December 31, they killed Wendell Tappin.
Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that the DPP has withdrawn the charge against Steve Allicock, and reinstituted the new charge against the other men.
He asked for the matter to be reassigned to Court Three for the commencement of the preliminary inquiry. The matter was adjourned until June 23.
The two men are being represented by attorney at law Euclin Gomes.
Wendell Tappin, of 88 James Street, Albouystown, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital on December 31, where he was pronounced dead following an altercation in Albouystown where he was stabbed and chopped about the body.
The man was allegedly was killed during an altercation over a cell phone battery.
