The four young cricketers who are being supported by Western Union under the Junior Ambassador Cricket Programme initiated by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sport Club presented a gift of appreciation to Western Union Marketing Manager Natheeah King.
The players; Loyden Lewis, Linden Austin, Shawn Pereira and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai handed over the gift to King on Wednesday last following a press conference to announce the 2nd year of the Programme being under taken by Western Union with sponsorship being close to $300,000.
The programme which commenced in April 2009 is geared to enhance the performance of the young players by equipping them with the necessary gear and educational materials that will be beneficial to their growth and development on and off the field.
The players have received cricket gear (helmet, bat, pad, gloves & bag) in addition to educational and hygiene materials valued at $10,000 each.
Western Union will sponsor the players until they reach the Under-19 level. One player will be added each year; this year saw the addition of promising Under-15 left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai.
