Three men have been arrested and stolen gold jewellery recovered with the help of public spirited persons, following an armed robbery committed on a man at about 21:15h yesterday at Hyde Park, Timehri.
According to a police report, investigations revealed that miner, Daniel Higgins was walking along Hyde Park public road when he was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm and the other with a chopper.
The men took away two gold chains he was wearing at the time and escaped in a waiting motorcar.
The victim contacted his brother who gave chase behind the getaway vehicle which suffered a puncture at the junction of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway. An alarm was raised and the police along with public spirited persons responded, resulting in the arrest of three of the men while one other managed to escape.
The two gold chains stolen from Higgins and a toy gun were found in the men’s possession.
The men who hail from East Ruimveldt and Turkeyen are in police custody while the motorcar, PHH 2309, has been impounded by the police.
