– NSC commits to continued sponsorship
The Guyana Table Tennis Association’s (GTTA) Independence Table Tennis (TT) tournament opened at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) yesterday afternoon with the National Sports Commission (NSC) committing to continued support. Director of Sport, Neil Kumar told the gathering at the Sports Hall that he wanted to see all the participants attending the Opening Ceremony of the event, which when assessed, one could say was fairly attended by both parents and players alike.
He said that the Sports Commission will continue to sponsor the tournament as he is impressed with the level of organisation that goes into the event. The Director of Sport stated that he would like to see the tournament be extended country-wide.
Competition in the Under-8 Boys and Girls categories as well as in the U-10 began yesterday and is expected to continue today. GTTA Official, Joel Wilburg told Kaieteur Sport that 190 wielders or racquets have registered for the competition this year.
