Paul Slowe is a classic example of what a good policeman should be

I read with some disappointment a report that Assistant Commissioner Paul Slowe is parting company with the Guyana Police Force.
The first point I wish to make is that, in a country where we are woefully short of skills, competence and integrity, a man of Paul Slowe’s vintage should certainly be persuaded to serve.
When last I saw him, he seemed both physically fit and mentally alert and the President and Minister of Home Affairs ought not to allow this loss to take place, and, I hope there is no other reason for this officer not being asked to stay on, or even lead the force at this time.
I recall representing Guyana at the Namibia Independent Celebrations. Paul Slowe was then an Officer, loaned by the Government to help improve the security of this Southern African State.
Every one with whom I came in contact expressed high regards, respect and affection to Paul Stowe who was clearly an ambassador extraordinaire; I have not spoken with Mr. Slowe but I hope that if he is offered an opportunity by the Government to serve, that in the interest of Guyana and the succeeding generations, he will feel compelled to accept.
For no one can deny the fact that he is a classic example of what a good policeman should be.
