The inclement weather, which left the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda under waterlogged conditions yesterday, forced the rescheduling of the Mayor’s Cup football semi-final matches to Wednesday.
Fruta Conquerors tackle Santos in the main attraction at 8:00pm, that game will be preceded by the curtain raiser at 6:00pm in which Rhythm Squad tangle with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) in what should be an interesting contest.
Keen competition is anticipated in the opening game between two very exciting teams and fans can expect a treat once the weather holds sufficiently to allow play. The Hope boys, Sheldon, Sceyon, Sherwin and Steffon along with cousins Llyton and Amos Ramsey, Gordon Grant, Mark Giles and Julian Forest will pose a threat to the GDF.
The Army unit will look to Stellon David, Trevon Lythcott, Marlon Washington Jnr, Telson McKinnon, Sheik Kamal and Royan Morrison to spearhead their fight.
In the main attraction, Santos are in good knick and will see William Europe, Glenorvan Edmonds and Trevor Lewis among other leading their charge in a keen battle against Fruta Conquerors. Conquerors balance of youth and experience will see Lester Peters and Neville Stanton, joining forces with Jolyon Harry, Delon Williams, Mustafa Maqq and Eon Alleyne among others to negate Santos’ efforts.
The winners of these games play for the $500,000 first prize.
