Former Guyana youth cricketer Ryan Hercules is enjoying another good season in England playing for the Shadwell Cricket Club.
The Essequibo all-rounder who represented Guyana at the under-15 level in 2003 and under-19 level in 2005 & 2006, informed that he made 82 in his opening game this season on April 17 but did not bowl since he was ‘not feeling too well’ but took 4 wickets for 24 runs from 10 overs in his next match against Preston to set up an eight wicket win for his side.
“I am enjoying the season and training very hard but being very careful with my knee and looking forward to this weekend’s double header,” Hercules, who had surgery on his knee last season, said.
His 79 and 4 for 30 in 10 overs remains his best all-round performance this season and he disclosed that he and Lorenzo Ingrim are still the two overseas players for the 20/20 championship.
The tall fast bowling all-rounder is keen to improve all facets of his game and intends to seriously vie for a place on the National senior team for the Regional One-day competition later this year.
He is expected home in September and is likely to miss the opportunity of gaining national selection for the Regional 20/20 tournament which is slated for the end of July. (Sean Devers)
