WELLINGTON PARK, CORENTYNE – The six persons, including three women, who were detained last week were granted their freedom. Police are working on several theories as investigations into last Monday’s incident, which left one dead at Wellington Park on the Corentyne, continue.
The latest from Division ‘B’ of the Guyana Police Force is that none of the fingerprints lifted from the scene of the crime matched any of those persons detained. But that does not clear them as suspects. They were all placed on station bail on Saturday and were ordered to report to the Whim Police Station as instructed.
Several fingerprints were found at the scene of the crime. Based on the method in which the robbery was carried out, detectives are of the view that there were at least six perpetrators.
In that incident, 47-year old Arjune Gobin, a security guard attached to Nand Persaud and Company Limited of Number Thirty-six Village on the Corentyne, was reportedly shot by bandits, in what was intended to be an early morning robbery at the home of businessman Surendra Ganesh of Wellington Park on the Corentyne, two miles from his work place. Arjune Gobin was cremated at 13:00 hours yesterday at Babu John.
