The top ten rated seeds of the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players are already established but the young players are quickly closing in. While players the likes of Fred Collins, Abigail McDonald, Moen Gafoor and James Krakowsky among others are known for their competence, they have discovered that winning is not as easy as it was before.
Players like Maurice Munroe, Paul Adams, Elton Chase and Kamta Ramnarine have made it exceedingly difficult for the top rated players to canter off with the spoils.
These players, rated below the top twelve, are now scheduled to compete against each other when the Worldly Words Scrabble Club hosts an In-house tournament that debars the top guns from participation.
The tournament is scheduled to be played at the home of past president of GASP, Nicholas Grant, 76 Hadfield Street and Winter Place on Saturday May 23 starting at 10:00hrs.
The first three finishers will take home beautiful trophies while there would be prizes for the player that forms the most bingos, the highest single play and the best beginner among others. All interested scrabble players are asked to contact Mr. Grant at his home to register for the tournament.
