Seven attain Black Belts for ISKF-Guyana
A total of seven persons attained the level of Black Belts for ISKF-Guyana when 8th Dan Karate Master Frank Woon-A-Tai conducted Grading Examinations for Sensei Clinton Moriah – Berbice – ISKF and Sensei Amir Khouri – YMCA-ISKF on May 2nd and 3rd at the YMCA Thomas Lands.
Eighty students participated in the exams and the results are as follows:
15 Students promoted to Yellow Belt (8kyu); 17 Students promoted to Orange Belt (7kyu); 9 Students promoted to Green Belt (6kyu); 11 Students promoted to Purple Belt(5kyu); 5 Students promoted to Purple Belt (4kyu); 10 Students promoted to Brown Belt (3kyu); 4 Students promoted to Brown Belt (2kyu); 2 Students promoted to Brown Belt (1kyu); 2 Students promoted to Shodan (1st Black); 3 Students promoted to Nidan (2nd Black) and 2 Students promoted to Sandan (3rd Black).
The outstanding students who skipped were Nicholas Chan to Orange (7kyu), Orin Janniere, Cuddy Holder, Joseph Leo, Karran Persaud, Raimund Rausch and Marvin Sealey to purple (5kyu) and Shane Rahaman to Brown (3kyu). Alexander Cheeks and Esron Moriah received their Shodan; Tariq Baksh, Jason Jerrick and Patrick Cheeks received their Nidan and Nathalie Gibson and Kyle Isaacs received their Sandan.
Master Woon-A-Tai held a short training session, after the exams with all the Guyanese participants of the upcoming Pan American Karate Championships to be held in August at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Teams selected for Kata continued training sessions on Monday and Tuesday at GCK Malteenoes.
