The Special Events Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday last recognised the outstanding contribution of their captain Harrinarine Chattergoon in the recently held Inter County Under-19 Tournament.
Chattergoon was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for both the 3-day and the One Day Competitions for his leadership, brilliant batting and bowling. Chairman of the Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster at the Ceremony pointed out that the BCB over the past three years has been honoring the MVP’s of all Berbice teams as a means of motivation for their outstanding performances.
Foster praised Chattergoon for his exceptional leadership of the team and for leading from the front with both the bat and ball. He challenged the young cricketer to be always disciplined, committed and to avoid the socials ills of today’s world. The Special Events Committee presented the MVP with a bicycle and a medal.
Chattergoon in response thanked the BCB for honoring him and pledged to continue making the Ancient County proud with his performances on and off the field.
BCB President Keith Foster, Secretary Angel Haniff and Treasurer Anil Beharry all offered words of encouragement and advice to Chattergoon. He was reminded to listen to the advice of his coaches and senior players.
