Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty on Thursday was forced to discontinue the preliminary inquiry for murder accused Clement James due to poor lighting conditions at the Suddie Magistrate Court.
Clement James also known as Black, of Charity, is was charged for murdering Basil De Freitas, also of Charity.
According to the police, the Magistrate who was working well after four, on Thursday, had to discontinue the matter because the court is not equipped with any electricity.
According to the police report, Clement James, in 2006, allegedly stabbed Basil De Freitas with a knife to his neck.
The report stated that James, who was in the vicinity of the Charity Market allegedly touched De Freitas’ wife’s rear in a suggestive manner. This sparked the altercation.
It is alleged that De Freitas saw when James committed the act, confronted him and a heated argument ensued.
James who was allegedly carrying a knife at the time then stabbed De Freitas in the neck. The injured man was rushed to the Charity Hospital where he later succumbed.
