Andrew Arjoon was elected to serve as President of the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) which held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, at the Georgetown Club.
During the Meeting, members received reports from outgoing President, Ronald Burch-Smith, about the work in the Association over the past year.
Also presenting an audited financial report was Treasurer Garfield Wiltshire, who was praised for his long service and excellent stewardship of the Association’s finances.
The following is the full composition of the new executive:
President: Andrew Arjoon
Vice President: David Fernandes
Secretary: Vidushi Persaud
Treasurer: Garfield Wiltshire
Assistant Secretary: Ronald Burch-Smith
Chairperson, Clubs: Roderick Lovell
Chairperson, Tournaments: Deje Dias
Chairperson, Junior Affairs: Tiffany Solomon
Meanwhile, the outgoing President welcomed and congratulated the new executive.
He thanked the Association for its confidence in him over the past four years and all the members who had worked hard with him during that period.
Burch-Smith mentioned that he was particularly happy with the work that had begun on the public courts at Non-Pariel, Woolford Avenue and cautioned against complacency about the success of the national teams in international competition.
The new President expressed his appreciation for the members vote and outlined in detail his plans for the New Year.
He expressed his intention to increase fund-raising projects and to get more persons involved in Junior Affairs and coaching.
