An Angoy’s Avenue man, who was on the run after he and his partner had committed a robbery, had his liberty cut short and will now join his cohort behind bars, after he was nabbed by police and brought before the courts to answer to the charge of robbery with violence.
The man, Leon Davis called ‘Souse Mouth’, 40, was sentenced to one year in prison by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo when he appeared before her at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the charge.
The robbery was committed on Wilbert David on April 24, last, at Angoy’s Avenue.
The court was told that Davis along with Peter Garner called ‘Ishie’ had ambushed David who was riding his bicycle. The bandits dealt him several blows about his body before robbing him of $5000. They then made good their escape.
The matter was reported and after conducting investigations, Garner was held and sentenced to one year in jail by Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton on April 27.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Muneshwar Narindatt called ‘Narine’, of Edinburgh Village, East Bank Berbice, was placed on $15,000 bail by the same Magistrate when he appeared before her at the Reliance Magistrate’s Court on a charge of simple larceny.
The prosecutor, Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, told the court that the youth lives with his grandmother Alimoon Narindatt at her Edinburgh residence. He said that on April 22, the woman discovered that a number of items were missing, including Can$1000, US$50, one gold chain and two cell phones, to the value of $130,000.
The matter was reported and the accused was arrested and charged. The matter has been transferred to the New Amsterdam Magistrate‘s Court for May 24.
