Banks DIH Sales & Marketing Executive Carlton Joao noted in his remarks that while the company was happy to be on board again, they have seen the upward movement created in the sport as a result of the Classic and Ross’ return.
“From a company point of view, his commitment, vision and experience on the world stage has not only done us proud but he has brought that vision and experience home to help develop the sport in Guyana and we think this is extremely good and we are committed to stand behind it.
We recognize the efforts of all concerned in the development of this programme come Sunday which we know would be fabulous. I commend the committee for making the competition open.”
Joao stated that Banks as a Company is very proud of Ross’ achievement as a Guyanese.
“We are encouraging everyone to come out and support Sunday’s activity, the athletes need as much support as possible and we do believe that it would be a really good event.”
Ross, Chairman of the Hugh Ross Classic Committee extended gratitude to Banks on behalf of the committee for maintaining their commitment towards the development of the sport.
“Their contribution as we all are aware is very valuable to us and what we are aspiring to do is to have a stage that will be open not to a selective few but all bodybuilding athletes who are eligible, willing and would like to actually compete.”
Ross noted that Sunday will see a huge turnout of athletes and is encouraging members of the public to come out and enjoy what will be on offer.
Competition on Sunday will commence at 19:00hrs with feature remarks by Honorable Minister of Culture Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony. Weigh in for the athletes will start at 13:00hrs and conclude at 15:00hrs at the National Cultural Centre also on Sunday.
