Students and Teachers pose for a photo op just before the start of play yesterday, at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.
Play in the Seerja Construction Company /Al Sport & Tour Promotions Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships opened yesterday with five matches at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.
Among the schools to register wins were (Boys)- Cornelia Ida (CI), Windsor Forest and Meten-Meer-Zorg, while for the (Girls) there were victories for Uitvlugt and Stewartville.
In the day’s full results: (Boys)-
CI defeated Stewartville by 17 runs.
Taking first strike, CI made 62-1 with Vickram Talmakund stroking 23 and Kevis Fraser 16.
Stewartville in reply, were restricted to 45-8. Talmakund returned to capture 5-7 and I. Rafeek grabbed 2-10.
Windsor Forest then beat Uitvlugt by 8 wickets.
Uitvlugt batted first and compiled 33-5 when the overs expired.
Ameer George picked up 3-5. In reply, Windsor Forest reached 36-2 off 4.3 overs. A. George remained undefeated on 13.
Meten-Meer-Zorg rolled past Zeelugt by 32 runs.
Meten-Meer-Zorg totalled 59-1 with Looknauth Chinkoo 23 and Mark Jeffers 21, being the principal scorers.
Zeelugt in their turn at the crease could only muster 27-1 when the overs came to an end.
Antonio Narine made a top-score of 13.
(Girls)-
Uitvlugt beat CI by 2 runs.
Uitvlugt amassed 51-1 with Shemika Wallerson striking 29.
CI replied with 49-1. Sacha Singh made 20 and Janique Carew 12.
Stewartville then beat Zeeelugt by 22 runs.
Stewartville compiled 59-3 with cassandre Mason making 17.
Zeelugt reached 37-1. Ashana Stephens made 13.
Action in the competition continues today at Grove Playfield.
