Trevor Benn in EBCA line-up
The Trophy Stall sponsored Media team will oppose an East Bank Cricket Association (EBCA) X1 in a 20/20 cricket match at the Police ground from 13:00hrs on Thursday.
Former National First-Class batsman Rohan Sarjoo will lead the EBCA side which includes former National youth batsman and former Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) President Alfred Mentore and Essequibo fast bowler and National selectee Trevor Benn. The Media side will be captained by former Guyana off-spinner Sean Devers with former Essequibo under-19 batsman Rovindra Madholall as his deputy.
The Media will play a series of matches leading up to their big clash with a Guyana Cricket Board X1 at the Guyana National Stadium in July for a winner take-all $50,000 prize and trophy.
The Media team is scheduled to play another 20/20 match next week against an East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) X1. The Media has selected a 15-man squad for Thursday’s game while a provisional squad has been named to prepare for the July contest at the Stadium. This squad will be involved in practice sessions and trials matches before the 13 to face the GCB X1 is named in June.
Media workers not included in the training squad but who are desirous of selection on the team for the match at the Stadium in July are asked to covey their availability to the Guyana Press Association (GPA).
