A “key” employee of the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) has died and he is being hailed by the Union for his contributions.
GAWU yesterday said that it has been thrown in a state of shock and grief at the sudden passing of Lalbachan, known fondly by his GAWU workmates as “Lall” or “Driver” and by some of his South Section, Canal Number Two (WBD) community as “Jagan”.
Lalbachan died “under unfortunate circumstances last Thursday morning” at his West Demerara home, GAWU said. The discovery of his body plunged both the Union and family into mourning. Lalbachan worked as senior driver to the Union and also did sensitive business deliveries and purchases.
A father of two, Lall has been with GAWU for 24 of his 47 years.
General Secretary, Seepaul Narine, who was greeted with the sad news upon his return from Geneva, described Lalbachan as “one of the employees who contributed to the efficiency and timeliness of GAWU’s administrative and operational standards; he was much more than a senior driver, he was professional, friendly and proud of his organisation; he will be difficult to replace.”
Wake is being held at his Canal Number Two residence prior to his cremation tomorrow at Rumzeight, West Coast Demerara at 1.00 p.m.
Where is the BETTER MANAGEMENT/RENEGOTIATION OF THE OIL CONTRACTS you promised Jagdeo?
