A 47-year-old Brazilian miner was crushed to death at around 11:30 hrs on Saturday at Winiperu Backdam, Konawaruk, after being crushed by a tree.
Reports out of the area stated that Anton Dos Angos Silva was ‘jetting’ a mining pit in which he was working when the mishap occurred.
He was pronounced dead at the Mahdia Hospital.
Kaieteur News understands that persons had warned the miner that the tree could fall and had advised him to cut it down.
However, the Brazilian reportedly ignored their advice and continued working.
