Jacqueline Joy Ann Duncan (nee Merriman), on Tuesday, collapsed and died at her desk at the Caricom Secretariat where she served as Consultant – Information and Documentation Centre. She was 65.
The wife of founder of Swansea Industrial Associates, Clement Duncan, whom she married in 1973, Mrs Duncan joined the Caricom Secretariat in 1988 as Project Officer – Information and Documentation Centre. She was later promoted to Senior Documentation Assistant – Information and Documentation Centre.
She began her professional life as a teacher at Central High School in 1963 before moving on to the National Library from which she resigned in 1982 as Deputy Chief Librarian.
Mrs Duncan served for four years as a part-time librarian at the University of Guyana and then became a member of staff of the Caricom Secretariat.
She mothered two sons, Christian and Duane and was grandmother to six.
She leaves to mourn her husband and children, two daughters-in-law—Jo and Jillian Duncan, and foster sister Mrs Wendy Thorne.
Her funeral arrangements are still to be announced.
