Easter, which celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, is one of Christianity’s most important holidays. Director of Child Protection Services, Ann Greene and other members of the agency, along with 100 plus children from the Drop-in and Sophia Care Centres, yesterday celebrated Easter with a fun-day filled with excitement at the National Park.
According to Mrs Greene, the event is an annual one, from the time the Child Protection Services was established three years ago. The staff bring the children out to fly their kites and enjoy themselves.
The children from both centres were excited and looked forward to the day. In addition, some children made their own kites and were quite pleased with the day’s activities.
According to Social Worker attached to the Sophia Care Centre, Claire Victorina, the event was made possible because of the work of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security since its staff place much emphasis on the children of the centres.
The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security has emphasised that the protection and well-being of its most vulnerable section of society and with the aid of the Child Care and Protection Agency, society has seen a drastic change in the way children are treated by all relevant agencies.
