Neil Gonsalves of the Pomeroon dominated the 225 to unlimited category on day one of the 2010 Bartica Regatta Power Boat, Canoe & Jet Ski but was out powered on day two at the Golden Beach Circuit with the Belles taking over the dominance on an eventful final day, yesterday.
After failing to make any top podium finishes on the opening day, Easter Sunday, the Belle family led by Clarence and Randy overpowered the opposition as they won their respective groups.
Randy, who had to be contented with taking the runner-up positions to Gonsalves in both 225 to unlimited events on day 1 rebounded to beat Gonsalves in like manner yesterday, Gonsalves having to settle for the 3rd position in both races yesterday.
Clarence Belle (Quick Silver) taking the 2nd place in the first while Dave Scott in command of Jaguar took the runner-up spot in the second and final race among the big guns.
Clarence sped into the lead in the first event which was contested in drenching rain; He enjoyed the lead for most of the race before Randy, who drove excellently, finally caught up with him on lap four before powering away to the finish line.
Clarence was unstoppable in the 115-200HP class accumulating a total of 10 points to lift yet another championship trophy. There was a tie for the championship in the 75 – 90HP category with Mark Fagundes (Jet & Trailer) and Clint Gonsalves (Miracle) tallying 5 points apiece.
Henry De Silva piloting Passa Passa ruled the roost in the 25 – 40HP class with a total of 15 points.
Hamley Martindale was simply awesome in dismissing the opposition in the Jet Ski races, he romped to victory in all four races; just too powerful for his competitors to handle.
Boy Baksh was runner-up in the first event. Bobby Rasul took over the 2nd spot for the next three races, Donovan Washington took two 3rd places with the other going to Shawn Roberts.
Results of other races on the final day; 75 -90HP, Clint Gonsalves (Miracle), Henry De Silva (Passa Passa).
Clarence Belle took both 115 – 200HP events, Stephen Belle (Tatianna) taking 2nd in both races, Vijay Bukan (Russian) and Gerald Parks (Haydon) sharing the 3rd places.
