A senior police officer landed in hot water after he failed a breathalyzer test following a three vehicle collision on Thomas Road, Thomas lands on Saturday.
Police in a press release confirmed that at about 13:00 hours a three-vehicle accident occurred along Thomas Road, involving an Assistant Superintendent of Police and two other motorists.
Investigations revealed that the Police Officer was proceeding east on the northern side of the road and strayed over into the southern lane into the path of two oncoming vehicles.
One of the motorists swerved to avoid a collision and crashed into a lamp pole while the other motorist collided with the policeman’s vehicle.
The two motorists received minor injuries and were treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and sent away.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the Police Officer who was found to be above the prescribed limit in relation to alcohol consumption.
He is expected to be charged accordingly.
