The Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50 Over Cricket Competition continued last Sunday with second round matches in Berbice.
Steve DeFreitas registered the highest individual score of the competition when he slammed 176 not out for Police against Rose Hall Community Centre. His knock, which included 21 fours and 5 sixes, led Police to an even 300 in 49.1 Overs.
Pacer Shane Sinclair and off spinners Malvern Williams and Dellon Bullen then took three wickets each to dismiss Rose Hall for 216 despite a fighting 65 from Dinesh Rameshant.
Berbice Under-19 middle order batsman Raffel Estriado hit 142 (12 fours 4 sixes), Andrew Dennis 94 (8 fours and 1 six) and former Berbice Under-15 cricketer Raun Johnson 57 N.O. to steer their team Achievers to a daunting 356 for 7 all out in 45 Overs against No. 4 (the highest score by a team in the competition so far). No. 4 were bundled out for a paltry 40 in response with Berbice Under-19 selectee offspinner Sherwin McPherson doing the damage with 5 for 12 from 8.2 Overs backed up by pacer Wendell Bobb taking 2 for 18.
Medium pacer Gopaul Boodram of Young Guns of Susannah on the East Coast of Berbice turned in the best bowling figures in the competition with 7-25 against Young Warriors who reached 199 in 45.3 overs as Totaram Sooknanan made 64. Young Guns lost by 94 runs.
The next highest score by a team was registered by Albion who made 342 in 49.4 overs against Whim National with former Guyana Under-15 captain Harrinarine Chattergoon scoring 59, his second consecutive half century. Maheshwar Naidoo (53) and former Berbice Under-15 wicket keeper Andy Mohan (42) supported. Naidoo took 4-21 as Whim National fell for 78.
Edinburgh posted 340-9 in 40 overs against Sisters as they were led by contributions of 80 from Tedroy Singh and 67 from Denary Henry. Sisters responded with 117.
Port Mourant made 303-5 in 40 overs against No. 47 Pioneer as Sasenarine Ernest (70), Joshua Ramsammy (65) and Ganesh Narinedat (55) led the way. Pioneer who registered 305 the day before against No. 43 Scorpion, were skittled out for 46 with the Port Mourant medium pacers Manoj Looknauth (6-27) and Dhanraj Chandradat (4-19) doing the damage.
Mahendra Bhola hit an unbeaten 55 as Crabwood Creek Rising scored 239 in 38 Overs against Kim Jung IL who were bowled out for a paltry 39 in reply with pacer Yashendra Angad taking 6-9 and offspinner Khemraj Chandradat 3-19 for Crabwood Creek Rising.
Following up on his century from the previous day, Mark Lionel slammed 73 for Scottsburg United in their victory over Young Star while other half centuries came from Karamchand Ramnarine of Kennard’s Memorial and Devendra Lalsa of D’Edward.

Police made 300 in 49.1 overs with Steve DeFreitas making an unbeaten 176 as Kabir Ramlall had 3-47, Satanand Mohabir 2-51 and Udesh Imrit 2-63. Rose Hall Community Centre fell for 216 in 41 overs with Dinesh Rameshant making 65, Kevin Ramdeen 31 and Satanand Mohabir 27. Malvern Williams had 3-20, Dellon Bullen 3-15 and Shane Sinclair 3-35.
At Lovely Lass, Achievers beat No. 4 by 316 runs. In a match reduced to 45 overs-a-side, Achievers made 356-7 in 45 overs with Raffel Estriado 142, Andrew Dennis 94 and Raun Johnson 57 not out. Pedro London took 3-60 for No. 4 who fell for 40 in 18 Overs with Sherwin Mc Person taking 5-12 and Wendell Bobb 2-18.
At Kendall’s Union, Young Warriors beat Young Guns by 94 runs. Young Warriors made 199 in 35.9 overs with Totaram Sooknanan hitting 64. Boodram snatched 7-25 for Young Guns who fell for 105 with Linden Austin taking 4-14, Kwesi Parris 3-14 and Fiaz Latif 2-14.
At Port Mourant, Port Mourant defeated No. 47 Pioneer by 257 runs. In a match reduced to 40 overs-a-side, Port Mourant totaled 303-5 in 40 Overs with Sasenarine Ernest slamming 70, Joshua Ramsammy 65 and Ganesh Narinedat 55. Ganesh Bhual had 2-84 for No. 47 Pioneer who were bowled out for 46 in 14.1 overs with Manoj Looknauth claiming 6-27 and Dhanraj Chandradat 4-19.
At Crabwood Creek, Crabwood Creek Rising beat Kim Jung IL by 200 runs. Crabwood Creek Rising 239 in 38 overs with Mahendra Bhola making 55 not out and Rajesh Mohabir 36. Waleem Imran Ally took 3-30, Kevin Roopnarine 2-24 and Sahid Shamsudeen 2-28.
Kim Jung IL crumbled for 39 in 8 overs with Yashindra Angad taking 6-9 and Khemraj Chanderdat 3-19.
At Scottsburg, Scottsburg United beat Young Star by 134 runs. In the match reduced to 45 Overs-a-side, Scottsburg United 220 for 9 in 45 Overs with Mark Lionel 73, Omesh Kumar 2 for 32, Chaitram Naurang 2 for 38. Young Star 86 in 24 overs with Kevin Grannum 4 for 18, Clavern Beresford 3 for 14.
At Whim, Albion Community Centre beat Whim National by 265 runs. Albion Community Centre 342 in 49.4 Overs with Harrinarine Chattergoon 59, Maheshwar Naidoo 53, Andy Mohan 42, Kandasammy Surujnarine 32, Sharaz Ramcharran 26, Safraz Khan 26, Yogindra Sooknanan 3 for 59, Arvind Ramsarran 3 for 31. Whim National 78 in 20.4 Overs with Yogindra Sooknanan 38, Maheshwar Naidoo 4 for 21, Avinash Wajid 3 for 6, Harrinarine Chattergoon 2 for 7.
At Edinburgh, Edinburgh beat Sisters by 223 runs. In a match reduced to 40 overs-a-side, Edinburgh were restricted to 340-9 in their 40 overs with Tedroy Singh 80, Denary Henry 67, Derick Cadogan 39 and Narine Yadram 38 not out and Deodat Ramdeen 34 led the way.
Trishan Campbell took 3-45 and Mark Lionel 3-67 for Sisters who fell for 117 in 22.3 overs with Wesley Lloyd making 37. Jamal Henry had 3-30 and Satesh Yadram 3-3.
At Bush Lot Farm, Kennard’s Memorial beat Kildonan by 101 runs. Kennard’s Memorial made 197 in 30 overs with Karamchand Ramnarine stroking 54. Quacy Albert had 4-27. Kildonan fell for 96 in 12.5 overs despite 28 from Quacy Albert as Daniel Collis captured 4-5, Devindra Sydney 2-25 and Videsh Lall 2-35.
At D’Edward, D’Edward beat Rosignol United by 124 runs. D’Edward made 246 in 40 overs with Devendra Lalsa scoring 51, Dereck Lalsa Jnr 36 and Chandrika Harrinarine 37. Ronsie Caleb had 4-41 for Rosignol United who made 122 in 42 overs with Caleb returning to make 34, Thomas mc Donald rattled up 32 in a losing effort as Devendra Lalsa took 2-10, Dereck Lalsa Jnr 2-22, Rakesh Ivan 2-22 and Kevin Jawahir 2-30.
At Lochaber, Tucber Park beat West Canje by 10 wickets. West Canje made 66 in 20.1 overs with Chris Sulker grabbing 4-7, Andel De Jonge 2-15 and Trishan Harry 2-19. Tucber Park reached 67 without loss in 10.5 overs with former Guyana Under-17 cricketer Jamally Odle striking 44 not out.
At Johanna in Black Bush Polder, Johanna Young Ivory beat Big Star by 125 runs. Johanna Young Ivory made 151 in 19.3 overs with Yadram Pahalad making 27. Mark Tyndall took 4-15 and Paul Tyndall 4-21. Ryan Park took 2-36 for Big Star who were sent packing for 26 in 9 overs with Yadram Pahalad taking 4-10 and Parmanand Parasram 2-6.
At Shieldstown, No. 2 beat Shieldstown by 26 runs. No. 2 scored 174 in 36 overs with Lackram Chetram top-scoring with 40 and Riaz Mohamed supported with 38. Kumar Bridgelall took 3-32, Deveshwari Prashad 3-40 and Andrew Jagnauth 2-61. Shieldstown could only reach 148 in 26 overs with Andrew Jagnauth 42, Deveshwari Prashad 36 offering token resistance. Waqar Hassan took 4-20 and Amit Balkarran 3-13.
