U-17 Inter Association fixed for tomorrow
Competition in the Guyana Football Federation National Super League will continue on Easter Sunday with matches at two venues.
At the Enmore Community Centre Ground in an all East Coast affair, Victoria Kings will attempt to reign in the exuberant Buxton United FC when they face off from 16:00hrs.
When the two sides met last year in the same tournament, Victoria earned a draw after equalizing in the final moments of the game, this time around Buxton, the current leaders in the points standing with 7, will be attempting to end the encounter with full points.
Up at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden, the Guyana Defence Force, knocked out of the CFU Champions League after going down to Walking Boys of Suriname and Alpha United, will be seeking to regain their confidence when they face home team Milerock.
The leading Mining Town side is third on the points table and a win can see them climbing to the top spot depending on the outcome of the Enmore clash. The GDF will be going for a heavy win but Milerock will also be aiming to defend home turf and with the backing of the fans, the Soldiers can find the going tough.
U-17 Inter Association
Competition in the Inter Association tournament will see Essequibo entertaining East Bank at the New Opportunity Corp Ground in the Cinderella County from 14:00hrs in a game that is of academic interest since both teams have lost their previous games and the odds are against them with regard to advancing to the knock-out stage of the competition.
West Demerara is set to match skills with the lads from the Ancient County of Berbice at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground with the Berbicians having the edge going into what is expected to be an exciting match-up that starts at 14:00hrs.
In games contested last Saturday, at the GFC Ground, Essequibo lost to Berbice 6-0 while West Demerara banged their way to a 5-0 win over East Bank. Prior to the last two games, East Bank and Berbice played to a 1-1 tie with West Demerara defeating Essequibo 4-1.
And the Women’s Inter Association tournament is set to kick off on Saturday April 10 with two matches. Georgetown will come against East Coast at the Enmore Ground while Bartica will travel to the West Coast of Berbice to engage Berbice at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground.
