The Annual Bakewell sponsored Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) of Guyana 15 overs Inter-Jamaat Softball round robin-cricket competition bowled off on Sunday last at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown, with 4 matches.
LBI defeated Providence, Queenstown got past Success, Mon Repos A banged New Mosque and Mon Repos B hammered LBI B. Following are the results.
LBI A v Providence – LBI A batted first and were bowled out for 209 in the final over of their allotted 15 overs. Salim Khan stroked 63. Bowling for Providence, Roy Mohammed picked up 3-20 and Imran Mohammed 2. Providence in reply could only manage 170-6 with Asif Baksh leading with 58, Roy Mohammed 34 runs.
Bowling for LBI A, Akram Ally had 2-22.
Success v Queenstown – Success batting first made 172-6 off 15. M. Mustapha 45*, A. Singh 42 and A. Haniff 41 were the principal scorers.
Bowling for Queenstown, Abdullah Roberts and Mohamed Najab had 2 wickets each. Queenstown in reply reached 177-7 in the final over which saw them requiring 6 runs to win and they achieved victory with 2 balls to spare. Fadil Ahmad led with 48 and Imran Ally 23.
For Success, Asif and Mustapha took 2 wickets each.
New Mosque v Mon Repos A – New Mosque A taking first strike were bowled out for a paltry 57 in 11 overs. Fiaz Azeez topped with 16 and Amzad Ali 11. Ameer Singh and Umar Khan took 3 wickets each for Mon Repos A, who rattled up 58-1 in a mere 3.4 overs. Ryan Singh slamming 29* and Omar Khan 19.
Mon Repos B v LBI B – Mon Repos B lashed their way to 215-4. Wazem Balgit top scored with 59 and Ameer Khan 32. In reply LBI B was sent packing for 51. Doing the damage with the ball for Mon Repos B were Abdul Whid 4-10 and Aslam 3-15.
The competition will continue on Sunday at two venues.
