Jamaica loose by four wickets
Brian Sattaur, showed why he is regarded as one of the best batsmen at this level in the region with a high-class 50 as Guyana beat Jamaica by 4 wickets in Trinidad yesterday to follow up their first round win against the Windwards on Monday.
Sattaur got support from Romario DeJonge 25, Kamesh Yadram 25, Shalendra Shameer 19 and Shawn Perreira 14 as Guyana reached 160-6 in 45.4 overs replying to Jamaica’s 159-9.
Sadique Henry 31, Maquino Mindley 28 and Fabian Allen 24 were the leading batsmen for Jamaica as left-arm spinner Devon Lorde took 3-36 for the South Americans and got support from Skipper Shawn Perreira 2-18 and his deputy Ricardo Adams who took 2-20 with his left-arm spin.
Barbados beat Leeward Islands by seven wickets and Trinidad and Tobago beat Windward Islands by seven wickets in the other matches played yesterday.
The competition continues tomorrow with 3rd round matches and the Guyanese have made a great start towards capturing their 3rd title and first since 1999 at this level.
