A Trayon Bobb helmet trick set the platform for a big win for West Demerara when rivalry in the Guyana Football Federation Under-17 league continued on Saturday last at the Georgetown Football Association Ground with a double header.
The scorching afternoon sun as a result of the continued El Nino weather pattern did not in any way affect the youngsters from the West Side who outplayed their counterparts from the East Bank, 5-0.
The opening game saw the lads from the Ancient County turning back their rivals from the Cinderella County 6-0, Sherwin Lewis netting a hat trick.
West Demerara, from the opening whistle dominated the game with Bobb, younger brother of former National defender Orville Bobb netting in the 2nd minute, signaling the intentions of the West Demerarians.
Bobb found the defense of the East Bank team easy to get past as he registered goals again in the 20th, 34th and 77th minute. Kester Dundas was the other player joining the Bobb party with a goal of his own in the 39th minute. The first game of the afternoon from 13:00hrs under the warmth of the sun did not drain the energy levels of the Berbicians who continued tehir dominance at the junior level with a clinical display.
Sherwin Lewis scored in the 22nd, 49th and 56th minute with Raynel Frank who converted twice opening the scoring in the 5th minute and was again in the score book in the 33rd minute. Sealing the deal in the 74th minute was Devon James.
The tournament is expected to continue this weekend.
