The Guyana Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) in collaboration with the University of Guyana Students Society (UGSS) will hold a ‘Night of Tribute’ tomorrow evening at 19:00hrs for the late national basketball player Kevin Lawrence, who passed away last Friday following an accident in neighbouring Suriname.
The tribute will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
According to reports, Lawrence along with some other Guyanese were travelling in a vehicle when it crashed, killing one occupant and injuring others including Lawrence.
He subsequently returned to Guyana and was hospitalised for sometime suffering from severe injuries, before he eventually succumbed.
Lawrence apart from being a former national player also represented Ravens and played the power forward position.
Kaieteur Sport joins the Basketball fraternity in extending sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Kevin Lawrence. May his soul rest in Peace.
